Defend
At certain points in the day, a town map will become a raid zone. Sucks to be you if your equipment was on a pet but you could just run into a building and grab your gear.
Monster attack!
During this time various monsters will start "attacking" towns. These could be bandits or formors from nearby dungeons.
Offering circles will appear within the area of services like the weapons shop, the general store, healers, etc. Should enough get there, that service will be disabled for the next erinn day.
Defend the city!
In each town, some guardsmen NPCs will be added. When a raid is not happening, they will just wander around on set paths like they were on patrol.
Around 10 minutes before the raid begins, an "evacuation" will be issued. During this time you may want to organize a party or leave to the outskirts of the city.
During the raid however, more guards will spawn and they will attempt to defend the city from the invaders.
Of course they won't be able to defend the city on their own, they're weak. Players will have to enter the raid zone (by teleporting into the center of town via NPC or from outside the raid zone) and help defend.
A shortened form of an idea I posted to the UGC. God knows if UGC material actually reaches devcat.
Woah. I also had a similar idea last year. Looks like people want towns to be invaded.
TOWN RAID SYSTEM
In-Game Description:
Many strong monsters have escaped from their usual locations. They grouped and are now attacking Dunbarton, the Milletian Hub of Uladh. Defend yourselves and your city from the monsters that attack you
Objective:
Monsters will spawn outside town borders and move into the towns. There, they will default to attacking buildings. Your goal is to limit the monsters from destroying a building in the town. If a building's HP falls to zero then the town raid will result in a defeat. There will be no rewards given if the town raid results in a defeat. The players' goal is to defeat a certain amount of monsters. The reward system is based on contribution points. Contribution points are earned by killing monsters. Once 200 total monsters have been killed along with the Bosses and Minibosses, the Town Raid ends.
The NPCs in the town will act like guardsman in Shadow Missions, they will have relatively high HP but low damage.

The main attracting point of this box is the new Guardian Set. The Guardian Set consists of Weapons and Armor that focus on the defensive aspect of combat. Providing boosts for defensive stats is something never seen before in this game. This set allows defensive minded players to fit to their play-style at the cost of other damage boosting sets.
Guardian Armor pieces cannot be enchanted, upgraded, or reforged. All pieces can be collected for a set bonus.
•Guardian Chest Plate: 25 Defense, 15 Prot, 10 Magic Def., 10 Magic Prot., +150 HP (Counts as Heavy Armor)
•Guardian Helm: 10 Def., 5 Prot., 5 Magic Def., 5 Magic Prot., +100 HP
•Guardian Boots: 10 Def., 5 Prot., +100 HP
•Guardian Gauntlets: 5 Def., 5 Prot., +75 HP
•Guardian Ring: +50 HP, +10 Magic Def., +10 Magic Prot.
•Guardian Shield: +50 HP, +10 Def., +10 Prot., +5% Auto Defense for all types
Equipping 5 of 6 pieces provides an added set bonus of +250 HP, +75 Defense, +25% Protection, +25 Magic Defense, +25 Magic protection, +30% Auto Defense for Melee, Range, and Magic.
Other Possible Rewards include all X-Grade Demonic equipment.
Note: Due to the size of the table after including demonic equipment, the chance of actually getting a guardian armor piece is quite low, which will make it one of the harder to obtain sets in the game. Strong armor sets should be harder to obtain.

EDIT1: Made title stronger as suggested by ironwoman.
EDIT2: Updated rewards list to final product.
