The first two floors of basic really lull people into a false sense of security.
Devcat, trollcat, etc.

Damn straight. Going through Adv last night so I could use the hidden anvil, I remember using Melee there easily, a couple of close calls but manageable, just Milk and Deity and I. Floor 3, BAM. Magic all day, err day. Top kek.

I'm still having nightmares.
Floor 1 and 2 - Hey, it's not so bad.
Floor 3 - Okay, let me out.
But then curiosity won and at floor 4 I was like:

I'm yet to start alchemy because I still have to finish G3 so I have no experience with Rain Casting, but what stops you from just Rain Casting + Hydra Transmutation every room in Alban? Except for the enemies spawning a bit too far from each other sometimes, but then again if the enemies aren't summoned en masse right on top of you there should be little to no problem.

some monsters only gets delayed in aggro speed rather than no aggro at all (e.g. mummies/all other mobs) and others straight up ignores it and aggro instantly (gremlins)
since mobs spawn in bunch instantly each wave the gremlins will hit you immediately hit you if you stand close. On top of that, mummies have adv heavy stander making them a huge threat if you can't 1 shot them.

They kind of spawn right on top of you, and aggro instantly. This is especially noticeable in higher difficulties (Hard + Heroic). From 4th floor, it's recommended that you Rain Cast + Hydra starting from 3rd floor for the said difficulties, although it isn't impossible to get by without them. The boss however... when it glitches, sometimes the only way to kill it is Hydra + Morrighan Skill + Shadow Spirit + Dischord.
In general, people should try to be equipped well enough. It's challenging enough for me to have fun, but I don't think 3rd and 4th floor is as bad as some people here make it out to be.

Melee is terrible at alban, it's suicide in hard S+ 500% dmg 4th floor
All the wand/staff dura wasted when should have just been doing this from the start.

My problem with this is usually with the cobweb mummies. If I don't score that crit, they usually retaliate and it hurts.

Ditto. I did the hard with 500% melee... and Bash is straight up gold when you can manage the aggro. But those bloody mummies are straight GANGSTA man. Its so freaking silly that I even got Master of Fireballs and Fire on one run of that cause of them... ugh.

Okay, I'll eat my words.
Standard melee blows. Now that we have aggro control, FH and bashing everything to death makes for ezy lyfe.
I do the same thing in alban but with ego firebolt.
I was actually pseudo quoting myself, so you don't have to!
Ego firebolt spam is what I'd been doing too, cause I never really thought that going Leroy jenkins with FH would work at all until I was lazy in an earlier adv run and saw it killed all 4th floor spawns with most of the timer intact.
As with everything though, quick aggro management between spawns or different clouds is the key.

Firebolt works wanders considering you have a good max damage set to go along with. I only have like 800 int but still gets the jobs done in heroic as well, but this is only when we're using debuffs that would affect my archery, like aiming rate or max damage. I know firebolt gets affected by the max damage debuff too, but figured out it isn't effected as heavily. Range is still by far my strongest asset overall, and that's still what I use in Alban.
Also, for those of y'all ranking range just for the sake of Alban... don't. Just rank whatever you were doing and then do range or something. I've seen way too many people trying to rank range, and still thinking it sucks because they don't have the stats/gears to do range effectively. It's better to have good melee for clearing Alban than having shitty range.
As a side note, Lance Charge actually works pretty well in this dungeon, especially when you have rain cast on.

Has anyone found a Celtic Royal Xbow from anything below Hard Intermediate S?

You can find CRC from adv A in hall of archers. And likely for higher difficulties as well.
