From what I understand of celtic myth, you can reach alternate realities via water.
That's some interesting titbit here. Thanks for sharing.
One more thing. I really liked the boss fight with Laiplokij. While I have purposely used weaker weapons and stuck to basic skills only, it felt like a real, honest to goddess duel - no bullshit stats (I'm looking at you, Ruairi) or cheap tricks. A shame that it ends with "but you lose anyway" YET AGAIN, but we need more stuff like that.

Yeah all the Da Capo missions are very very similar.
The only differences are the text that Meryl says when boarding the boat and before starting the Painting or Harp minigames.
So if you get the barrel one, there's almost no difference whatsoever. (since she's not there to comment on the barrel thing)

Wow, that took a while to put together, and that's just the Harp comments. @_@
Anyways, most people will get a hodgepodge of Harp/Barrels/Painting minigames.
But Meryl also has unique comments for each Painting puzzle minigame on Reunion/Da Capo 1/2/3/4.
Wow that's pretty deep. Also reading that dialogue you really get the feel for just how passionate Meryl was about music and especially about playing the harp. Clearly the devs put a lot of thought and effort into making this character and doing her dialogue

**PROTIP** someone pointed out on the fourms that the mini games you get are random. I got the sliding puzzle twice in a row and someone said you can just exit and re-enter the mission to get a different one. That saved me a WHOLE lot of headache as I didn't want to redo the sliding puzzle :point:

Okay, so in my first playthrough I got the puzzle room only once and all rhythm game for the rest. I was lucky. But it wasn't until my second playthrough that I realized there is a barrel room, and I prefer that the most now (but puzzle room can still go to hell, I won't quit the rhythm room to try and get the barrel but I still will quit that effing puzzle). I liked how the barrel room doesn't set you back a lot if you get hit. I wish more missions/dungeons that used something like this.
Also I wondered where we get to the ballroom from, kinda makes sense now that I've seen the hall.

Seriously now, enough with the praises and open your eyes.
The whole point within Samhain is you running around doing errands. Whatever Meryl or Laigasdfhainn wants you to has absolute nothing to do with what happens in the end other than you finding small clues and tibits. The whole story is then narrated at the end, and you get into a boss fight which ultimately ends up with a forced loss, and she doesn't even explain anything (i.e. how is it going to even help if we die on the ship, for example). At least Ruairi and Tarlach explains why you have to die, and how is your death going to help the world of Erinn. Laighammad the terrorist just tries to behead you without even explaining the purpose.
She's not even deep, she's a chore. She makes us look for stupid keys the whole time, she can't repair a picture, the only thing she is good at is playing music. She doesn't even help in any way or another. Her whole intention is just to waste our time, being a "treasure hunter" v2.0.
If Laighammad is deep, then I guess now I understand why so many people on this forums believes that Undertale is actually a good game.
It takes more than this to impress me. The scene is lazy, the storyline is lazy, Samhain reeks of lazy the whole point. Instead of developing the plot between the player and Meryl, or even Laighammad, all they did is to slap you on a series of non-interactive, boring chor- no, I mean... Quests, type a few cheesy lines for Meryl, and then try to cheap out on Laighammad's lines and story via narration.
Really now, can you get even more lazy than that? The room itself where the fight takes place is a glitchy mess, even. I spawned in with the wall in my damn face, and I'm forced to fight in a shitty POV thanks to the graphical glitch.
Did they even playtest Samhain before releasing it to the players?
I rate it 3/10. There is just so much flaws with it, I can barely even call this coming close to being immersive.
3, because 1 is the lowest point I can give, I give it 1 point for getting my ass out of Dunbarton and all the way down to Bangor over and over, and 1 other point because the event actually gives out 180 spaces within a 9 box slot (more space efficient than any bags except for the Carasek and Lux/ Simon bag).

I've finally done part 2 of Samhain enough to finish getting 1 of each of those bags.
At this point, my most time-consuming minigame is the dance one.
The barrel one is the fastest for me, but that sliding tile puzzle is now so easy to me I could do it almost as fast as it takes for me to run down the barrel hallways.
I wish the H coin gift boxes weren't filled with so much expiring garbage.
Now I'm not really sure what else to spend the coins on.

I crashed so many times on the Tacet quest for Samhain 2nd Movement... The 1st Movement was painful, 13 runs for all the pieces. Aside from that, I'm really liking this story :thumb:

Yeah that part is just spamming space bar a whole bunch, for about 7 or 8 repetitions.

I am going to assume when it says "You can only carry one" It means the same concept as the Carasek bag that you can't have multiples of the same kind of bag.
Also when replying part 2, do you need to wait a full day each time you do the quest with the mini game?

No, on replays of part 2, there's no waiting at all between quests.
So run-throughs are a lot faster after the first one.

Yea its only space bars. The other keys start getting involved when you do the harp-involved rhythm game.
