I used to have the worst opinion of pot and pot smokers when I was a bit younger. Now, not so much. Yet I'm still horribly against it. And I dunno why.
I've heard that alcohol is more damaging than weed and it doesn't surprise me so, yet I'm not against people who like to drink.
What do you think about weed? Are you against it? Why?
Do you think it should be legalized? Should people go to jail something like consuming/selling pot?
Discuss.

Perfectly fine with it. As long as the majority of the 'patients' taking it are people that really need it. like AIDS patients, handicapped people going through physical therapy, etc etc.
Apparently though, the majority of the 'patients' that take it in legalized states are because they are in 'immense pain' for unexplained reasons. Should be legalized, yeah, but also needs to be better controlled.

What about smoking weed simply for recreational uses?

I'm not against weed, I'm against most of the people who use it.
"YO MAN! 420 BRO! THEY SHOULD TOTALLY LEGALIZE THIS, MAN! NOTHING WRONG WITH IT! POT, BRO, POT! I TALK ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME 'CUZ I GOTTA KEEP UP WITH THIS STONER IMAGE!"
It should be legalized and then become the norm like alcohol has. Then those pot-smoking stereotypes will be seen as even weirder and then will be weened off their retarded public image. I know a lot of people who smoke weed and don't act like a pot obsessed moron all the time. As for going to jail for doing or selling it, they should if it is against the law, simple as that. The law is designed to punish those who do something that the law deems wrong. As for my own opinion as to if people really deserve to be punished for those activities, I have no idea, I don't do drugs.

Weed isn't bad for you. Of course, the smoking is, since smoking anything is bad.
The definitive study of the long-term health effects of marijuana to date was done by Kaiser Permanente. They surveyed the health records of 65,000 patients over a long period of time. They found no significant differences in the health records of marijuana smokers versus people who did not smoke marijuana.
It holds no health effects, and smoking weed causes less lung damage over a period of time than smoking cigarettes.
I've smoked weed occasionally since I was about 13, and while I don't recommend anyone doing it, I'd much rather people do that than smoke cigarettes/drink alcohol/do other drugs.

Why don't you recommend it?

I don't recommend any drugs to anyone. I don't think recommend was the right word, though, but I can't think of any other word to use.

Honestly? While there are plenty of fine lines and other factors in here, the main thing a lot of people don't look at is the comparison between pot and alcohol. I was the same way when I was younger. Alcohol is bad, BUT OH MY GOD, POT IS THE DEVIL. I was rather naive about marijuana, and I figured it HAD to be worse than alcohol.
No way in hell do I believe that now.
Like alcohol, or really, anything else in existence, pot can be abused because.. Well, people are stupid. The effects, though? How often do you hear of automotive accidents related to pot.. yet, we have the term 'drunk drivers'? I mean, obviously, marijuana-related accidents are not uncommon, but.. You get the point I'm trying to make. Same goes with domestic disputes.. Compare the rate between pot and alcohol as the potential sources.
I'll agree with Moppy on the jail time, though. If it's against the law at the time, and you break the law.. Well, you're just asking to do time, no? But yea.. I think it should be legalized, because I see no real reason for it to be illegal, especially in comparison to alcohol. I'd rather be around someone who's smoking pot rather than someone who's drinking.

I won't lie, I've smoked weed and then driven. And I think I drove better then than I do when I'm sober. People are paranoid when they're high. I don't think people who have never smoked weed know that.

How come?
Also, I've been really curious about weed. Kinda just wanna know what the fuss is about, you know? No peer pressure, just plain curiosity. But I think I would hate myself afterwards, if I ever did it.

Most people get tired and giggly when they smoke, and sometimes even really horny. Me and my friends sit around, eat, and watch comedy on tv. If I had to explain to someone the feeling, I'd say it's like dreaming. You feel like you're not in your body. Everything moves slowly, but time goes by fast. You feel like things that are happening aren't actually happening.

I remember hearing from my biology teacher back in middle school, that weed helps fight cancer. In the terms, if you had cancer. Not prevent cancer.

I've never driven after getting high. ..Mainly because I was paranoid ;D. Still, that's a good point.
@Phunkie
Because people who are high are generally just lethargic and carefree. People who are drunk can be a variety of things.. the reaction is almost always different. I've been around multiple people at different points in time, and there have been times where I've gotten into a physical fight with them because they're out of control and raging everywhere, there have been times where I've stood there while they cried on my shoulder about something that happened years and years ago, and there have been times where they've slurred on and on about the same thing over and over again.
People who are stoned are usually far less problematic, at least from my experiences.

Weed can help fight a lot of health issues, which is why I wish it would be legalized. People are going to smoke it, anyway. Slap a tax on it and sell it, make the nation some money while making people happy.

What do you guys think about pot being a gateway drug?
More specifically, a gateway to cigarettes. Almost all the people I know who smoke weed occasionally, also smoke cigarettes occasionally.
Is there a correlation?
