Quote from Darkboy132;1262452:
My focus is more of the lack of drawbacks that Mana Recovery has. Meditation has three drawbacks that punish Stamina and movement, Spellwalk uses 2x more Mana and an excessive amount of Stamina (which we all agree is stupid), Mana Shield doesn't factor in defensive stats other than Hidden Shield and Magic Defense, and Healing drains Stamina if used on self.
Exactly, so why would you want Mana Recovery to be as handicapped as Meditation? It's not like Mana Recovery is like 2% MP per second. Cooldown is already handicap enough.
Also, removing handicaps and buffing are not the same thing. Just uncapped mediation to r1 won't solve the problem. And uncapping Mana Shield to r1 won't make it not useless in most situations. The only way to fix Mana Shield is to re-allow defensive stats into calculation, to some degree. The only way to fix Meditation is to lift or weaken its handicaps. Uncapping them would be like putting a bandage on your forehead for a brain tumor.
Quote from Darkboy132;1262452:
Oh? What'd it do on test?
It healed much more HP and SP, in addition to Wounds. People argued that it was hitting to close to Mage/Healer territory.
Thank god Mana Recovery didn't become another Respite.

I main mage as one of the skillsets on my character for a LONG time, and I can agree that Mana Recover is not exactly needed as of now.
I would rather they do some changes to Meditation to function similarly to Mana Recover, and/or maybe uncap them to rank 1 or something.
I'm still waiting for them to uncap both Meditation and Mana Shield as well... been forever.

I'm getting kinda tired of reasoning... x.x
But I still think 50% max mana recovery pretty extreme. Also speaking of Mana Shield, Mana Recovery refuels it pretty greatly.

Jesus, now they're regretting their own words.

They could also make Meditation less stamina restrictive when using a wand/staff, too.
IIRC, Meditation was uncapped once in G4, from D to 9, and did not receive another uncap until G16, by only one rank. Mana Shield was left at Rank 6 since its implementation (G8) and never received any uncaps.

Nope.
The best way to "fix" Mana Shield is to nerf strength-based defense into oblivion. Mana Shield is awesome. Relative to standard tanking, Mana Shield is not.

I don't have but around..600-700mp on my mage human right now and I've been doing magic for a while now. I can safely say this about every long elite or long hard mode mission I've been in where I've done nothing but some form of magic. Be it fireball, thunder, or firebolt cc4 spam. Ahem..

Well there's a new login screen on live. It's another nice one.

As for obtaining mana recovery. Seems for that all you have to do is talk to Stewart about skills. I'm not sure how to obtain Lightning Rod but I have a feeling it's going to require me having r1 lightning bolt, r1 thunder and r1 lightning mastery as that's what the rough translation I have seems to suggest. Don't have either at r1 on live so I'll have to work on that today I suppose.
From what I"m seeing I'll get a quest called "Way of the Flash" or something once I meet those requirements. I'll check again after work to see if I missed something.

There seems to be 2 groups of complaint about mana recovery.
1) it's too OP, mages don't need so much mana!
2) They should fix meditation or mana cost instead
For #1: all that can be said is do you 100% (or almost 100%) main mage for everything you do in the game? If the answer is no, then go do that then come back and say you didn't wish you had more mana regeneration.
For #2: I agree with that. They should make meditation recover more mana 24/7 instead of just at night. I'm not a fucking vampire and I don't care about the lore. Mana recovery rates in their current form are unnaceptable, even with night time + meditation + holy eagle mask my mana bar goes poof and I start to chug potions. Also don't know where the hell people get so many MP 300's but I can only get a reliable supply of 100's. Having to use 10 potions to fill my mana is unacceptable either.
However it looks like the fools at nexon decided not to fix that problem and instead toss mana recovery at us, so I'm just going to take it and use it because it's probably the best we'll get for the duration of this game's lifetime.

Ya I agree with this. By the time I finish a solo Girgashiy run I've used about 2-5 MP pots. With this I should be able to not use any pots which will make it so I don't have to die on purpose to avoid the don't use potions requirement. Well...that infection attack is another story >.> But Nimbus' can solve that :P
Also mages end up using potions in those secret missions which ads to the pot usage count which could prevent people from getting S rank. This skill will prevent that from happening as much which is really good.
I'll take what I can get. Can't rely on devcat to change up everything.

Any decent mage has found a way to satiate their recovery by now either via saving it (low cost skills, -% equips/upgrades, hybrid class, etc) or by recovering it (pots, leveling, regen, etc). I could understand being offended if pots had a cool down or animation, but seeing how they're instant and accessable with no cooldown, it seems like it shouldn't matter.

Well it becomes a pain when you're firebolt spamming and you happen to run out of MP and don't have a lot of SE/RE 500/300's stockpiled up. Firebolt eats up a lot of mana and is probably one of the best magic skills to spam. Personally I'm a firebolt mage so I'm heavily optimized for firebolt damage.
So far between this skills, instant cast cooldown and changes to fireball. This update will further my goals as being the best Firebolt Mage in NA *muahahaha*
Right now my main combo card is: Firebolt -> Firebolt -> Firebolt -> Firebolt -> Fireball. With instant cast cooldown cut to 1 minute I should be able to pull that combo off more often and with fireball's shorter fall time, it has a greater chance of hitting girgashiy (Only content I run these days on mabi xD).
Although with lightning rod's fast casting time and damage, might be worthwhile to toss that in now and then.

I've always used my IS sparingly because it pumps out about 30 mana/second with broken speed casting reforge while casting. Otherwise levels are usually sufficient for me, and pots are really cheap or easy to make with harvest+r1 skills+herbstead. I hope we see more IS users emerge.

Ya, some variety in magic would be nice as it does get old spamming firebolt over and over again.
