That pretty much confirms the damage formula.
Sad truth is Meteor is still useless. It's just going to get outdamaged by Lightning Rod.

You have to remember that our content options are based around the notion that you're nearing end-game status by level 1,000 (hard difficulty)...which is the same level you stop receiving beginner benefits. I'm also pretty sure that DevCat has this strange notion that you can only use Final Hit effectively if you're a "warrior" which is silly because everyone knows that the second Final Hit enters cooldown, that shit is thrown in the trash in favor of lance piercing and dual guns.
You can take on pretty much everything "meaningful" (because tougher content has garbage rewards) by the time you hit level 1,000. It doesn't matter if you're hitting 20k per hit or 5k because everything is getting trashed.

I'll just agree to disagree with you as we're never going to see eye to eye. You take end game seriously while I think it's a joke and prefer to play the game from the perspective of a casual. Casual and hardcore players never mix well.
Meteor Strike isn't useless now and it won't be useless after renovation. It has a much larger area of effect than Lightning Rod and it deals greater damage to centralized targets. It also has a significantly greater range and doesn't cause agro.
It's a situationally useful skill. The biggest issue with Meteor Strike is that it has some balance issues. You could hit 100k or you could hit 15k.
Couldn't they at least make the damage scale equally on distance and lower the cooldown to like 5 minutes like with Sakura Abyss? I'm still not seeing much hope for Meteor.

I don't agree to disagree. I fully understand and support your argument but i'm not into book burning.
I suppose. I'm just being too stubborn. Mainly cause I'm sick of seeing so much negativity about the update.
Even if they removed the range-based damage reduction the skill would still have hefty balance issues. I wouldn't drop the cooldown any lower than ten minutes. If the player had to choose between a nuclear weapon and anything else at the same cost, we wouldn't see a whole lot of gameplay diversity.
It's pretty similar to the situation with Final Hit and Way of the Gun. Does anyone honestly expect to see anything other than FH/WOTG during raids/disciples post update? I mean, pretty much everyone capable spams WOTG now (or spams lance Smash).
Keep the min-max magic attack coefficient the same? Give it 100% magic balance? Guaranteed critical? I don't know! :XD:
You're looking for a problem where there is none. There is nothing wrong with meteor strike now that it's already insane fast. Please stop judging a skillset before you use it.

What Lightning Rod's cool-down Rank F ~ 1 ?
I am im sick of all the negativity. People just like that we are getting updates for this game still and enjoy the game for what we got instead of what Dev cat COULD'VE done better is that really hard. And rune i actually like these renovation updates so far so good nothing seems to bad i like what i see
Don't use the "at least we are getting update" logic. That will lead you no where

I'm not convinced that Meteor Strike is "fine".

Meteor Strike gives you the opportunity to launch a potentially highly damaging skill with a very large area of effect every 15 minutes at the cost of a 6 second load time.
Don't concern yourself with Lightning Rod. If Meteor Strike is "bad" compared to Lightning Rod, that's an indication that Lightning Rod is too strong, not that Meteor Strike is too weak.
Final Hit is TOO STRONG! Buff Way of the Gun!
Defense is too effective! Buff Mana Shield!
All solutions that simply inflate power creep. Do remember that monsters have been exempt from stat buffs since the talent update.
