  Lightning Rod was a bit weak prior to its release on the live server.
  
  Don't forget that the skill tripled in power during that transition.

  Still doesn't make Meteor as good as it should be considering we still can do MUCH more than the crit damage that meteor deals, within 1 minute, and add that up while waiting for cooldown. It'll still make Meteor strike look like a joke.
  
  Heck, even Lightning Rod and Hail Storm does its job on making Meteor Strike look like a joke compared to them.

  Meteor Strike isn't supposed to compete with the total amount of damage you can do in 15 minutes. It's a burst damage skill. If anything, it should only compete with what you can do in 4 seconds. And if you can do more in 4 seconds, then that's probably a problem.
  
  Saying Lightning Rod is too strong doesn't mean Meteor Strike is too weak. Vice versa too.

  Even if Meteor deals heavy damage within 4 seconds, it still doesn't change the fact that it's still mostly useless, because of the cooldown.
  
  I still stand by my point by making it have 10 minutes cooldown, and even so... that is slightly pushing it too.

  It wouldn't be useless, it would be less available. That doesn't mean people won't use the shit when it's available...it just means that people won't be able to rely on Way of the Gun all of the time. Instead of spamming, easy-mode DPS skills or easy-mode high-damage AOE skills "always", they'll only be able to cheese the game "sometimes".

  Personally, I'm not one to just say "oh hey, 'at least we got an update' " kind of person. I agree with KINGZZ here in the fact that certain people on nation seem to think an update is bad just because it doesn't cater to their needs, or their wants out of the game, and honestly it's getting pretty disgusting how much people whine around here.
  
  This Magic Update isn't that bad, and if you want to get into the talks of "Well they could've done this better and this and this too," yeah sure I agree, they could've done a lot of things better, but if you want to get into those kinds of conversations we would be making lists for the next decade. And it's not just devCat either, ALL game devs face this kind of problem.
  
  My point is, just because update doesn't suit your fancy, or tickle your pickle, doesn't make the update bad; if anything that's good. I would rather have devCat and or Nexon head the game into the direction THEY want rather than what players want. Too many times have they listened to their community and it ended up hurting the game more than fixing it.
  
  If you want examples of this, go through the Melee Renovation post, look at how many people complain about how FH is too OP because of its damage potential, then come into this thread and look at the early posts about how much Lightning Rod is shitty because it doesn't do enough damage. People simply can't make up their minds it seems like.
  
  P.S: Uncapping meditation wouldn't fix the problem. Mage is the only skillset that is REQUIRED to use MP potions. Every other class can generally get by (to my knowledge) without using any pots.

  Did I say that Lightning Rod was underpowered and needed to be three times stronger? No. I can't speak on behalf of the community, so I would ask you to refrain from associating their opinions with my actions.
  
  If you don't like that I have a few issues with the update, please post some new interesting information so that we can have a conversation about it. I love to discuss game mechanics. If you have nothing to contribute other than to nitpick my analysis of the update, kindly fuck off.

  Anyway. There are a couple of issues with the update but they definitely knocked some things out of the park, as shown in that video. The advanced spells seem to have gotten the most love, which isn't a bad thing. Non-snap cast Fireball and Thunder are more feasible in standard combat scenarios.
  
  Out of everything, I feel like Snap Cast and Ice Spear are sort of the underdogs of the update. Nobody has really talked about the former's massive cooldown reduction while it seems a bit strange that Ice Spear hasn't gotten much press despite long standing complaints about the frozen status.

  I tried talking about the advantages of the snap cast and how it would aid me in more fireballs being flung but it got ignored by the complaints. I'm really pumped about the snap cast reduction. It's especially a big boost if you're continually spamming bolts as that 1 minute cooldown gets cut down to almost 30 seconds.

  Just my journey of obtaining Lightning Rod on KR Live. I'll be doing a more comprehensive overview video after our live stream this weekend. Hopefully before I head to Spain at the end of this month.
  
  I will not be around to cover the Archery update as I'll be gone for 2 weeks so you'll guys will have to make do with what you organize and find which I'm sure you'll be fine with that.

  Lightning rod was a bit underpowered prior to this live release. It's a bit overpowered now. Really only needed to be on hailstorm level or a little above in damage.
  
  The rest of the update is still mediocre. It's improvement yes, but it's not amazing improvement. Many issues were left and many things still have questionable use when compared to other methods.
  
  Mana Regen skill still unneeded. It's like being able to make 200 ++ MP potions daily means nothing to players already.
  
  Meteor still only has 2 reasons to cast it. One is clearing blinkers in GoP elite, nice to have every blinker dead before entering the room. The 2nd use it for private black dragon raids. Clear all the raptors and you can burst the dragon down after peeling Ez Pz.
  
  Overall impressions of the update C+. It passes. Lightning rod is the FH of the magic tab, blast it every 15 second for instant greater than act 7 damage.

  But you mean act 7 can't do over 30k in elite when you're up to your GILLS in damage? And crit all 3 times?
  Cause last time I checked, two seconds for a ~60k crit with almost COMPLETE magic attack insanity sans the reforge for it on a clean fox, can't even beat half the "use this skill to win" roster. It doesn't nearly do FH levels of stupidity, and Hailstorm still is the constant artillery one looks for, now more than ever. It still lost its bet when you can't use tribarrier in Swiz hardmode since you have other methods and situations to use hailstorm.
  
  What I'm also more interested in is if it has a Damage Constant, or is affected by cast time AT ALL, THEN we can start talking about if it does stupid garbage.
  
  Anyways, I do not mind this update and its a LOT better than the usual gruel that C++Kitten hands us. It certainly doesn't seem as boring as the latter two ace updates, and if you forget, you EXPECT codefeline to be inept. See:any generation past g13.

  133~465 at r1. +200% Damage if you let it fully charge (charge time is 2 seconds at r1, possibly less with charging time reduction [Need to Test])
  
  To answer your question it does charge up like blaze but unlike blaze you don't have to be right next to the enemy to use it. If you check the video I posted above and skip to the end you'll see me fully charge up Lightning Rod. I'll be doing more vids of it after our live stream and of course there's the live stream itself that I will be demonstrating the skill. I may not be r1 by then due to time constrants and me burning all my AP trying to rank the other magic skills on test.

  Damage Constant/Coefficient is the part of the damage formula that takes into account enchant damage or damage from overture. Hailstorm has none, Meteor is unknown due to little testing, and due to the damage variance of shockwave its hard to tell.
  
  But it having constant load time rules out it being more useful with vivace at least, so no Party vs Solo conflict.
