Fixed. How could he be in Iria if he, um, died?

Character progression and character customization is probably the only thing that this game did right.
Combat is just horrible, but it is 7 year old game. Can't really compare it to more modern MMROPGs/games.
Story? I only did the story once, so it is only a minor part of the game.
PvP is just horrible. PvE is really simple.

I'm interested in how you guys would compare Mabinogi to other games like WoW or FF14 just to see how good of a game Mabi really is considering having fun. Personally tho:
2) Gameplay - i love the combat system. The graphics are nice, animations smooth. It sucks that i can't jump tho and that's why i can't blend into the world as much as i want to. I know it's useless but jumping would be epic in Mabi.
???
Cause honestly if I try to play mabi without mods it all feels laggy as fuck and my FPS goes to hell. I'm guessing you mean cut-scenes then.
And to compare to
FFXIV: Obviously Final Fantasy runs A LOT smoother, both in cut-scenes and during actual gameplay. Visuals are a preference, both diferent styles but both done nicely in my opinion. In terms of fashion, Mabi > FFXIV.
Both also have fairly nice character customization where you are free to try as many different classes as you want and progress in all of them. However, since Mabi is p2win and very poorly handled by Nexon I take virtually no pleasure at all in ranking anything there anymore. Its all released in training potions anyway.
Final Fantasy feels like old school Mabi in this regard, where ranking life skills actually take time and effort and you
can make something out of it. Be it clothes/weapons/armors/way to make money.
Combat... well, I feel that XIV is really boring specially on early levels. But it gets a little more dynamic as you get closer to endgame, probably due to dungeon/bosses mechanics. It's strange, Mabi has more engaging combat overall but Final Fantasy does the whole dungeon/raid fights better due to it not being only "DPS down the boss as fast as you can!"
In terms of living that "fantasy life" I've enjoyed both during my time playing it... Big worlds, lots of things to do, cool events/mini-games from time to time (specially on mabi).
Overall I'd say they're both enjoyable games, but due to the year Mabi was released it has some core foundation problems. Obviously the company handling it as well seems to be only dragging it down more.

Ehh, i meant all the animations, they don't lag for me besides demi.

Content - Lots of stuff to do. Raids, combat, lifeskill, socializing (the most evident one). I think there are plenty of contents in Mabi, just not enough incentives.
Interesting, i've always thought that Mabi is lacking content but maybe i was just under the impression of it. How would you change the content so that people would be more motivated to do them?

I just want to draw attention to one tiny yet significant core combat element mabi did right that so many other "action" MMOs neglect.
The simple concept of hitstun.
Combat just feels so much more impactful with it. Otherwise, no matter how "actiony" you try to make your control scheme, the game is just a match of shouting numbers and hoping yours are bigger. It puts on too many constraints since it provides an unavoidable source of damage, and unnecessarily health gates players. It removes the ability to put skill as a core component of gameplay.
Mabi has been powercreeped a lot, sure, but the combat system, at its core, has all the right systems and ideals that any action MMO should seek to be.

Combat system?
One of the best combat system I've seen out of all MMO games, actually... It's not too confusing to use.
Character progression?
Again, one of the best out of all MMO games, what made Mabinogi unique is that you're not restricted to any type of skills... though the three races do kinda get in that way.
Guild support?
It's okay... but it's one of the features that was ignored for a long time, so I'd like to see some type of revamp that encourage guild... maybe some benefit for being in a larger guild.
Story?
It's enjoyable in some aspects but some parts in it does get left out or ignored. Some characters are forgotten.
Content?
It have some of the best contents in game... Girgashiy raid, the place to explore, doing dungeons, and so on... but it need to have some type of motivation to make people feel more encouraged to do them... maybe throw in some rare fashion items in a dungeon's end chest as a rare drop (same % as Hebona robe from Alby Adv HM)
PVE systems:
It's good... but some mobs do need to be tweaked since most of they basically behave like a gray wolf in term of AI. DevCat need to find some ways to make actual difficult contents without making it "cheap" (ie for cheap; Girgashiy)
PVP systems:
One of best out of all MMOs, it's actually enjoyable... but we should have dueling system and EvG have the durability system turned off so they don't have to worry about durability loss. Otherwise, PvP should be there only for entertainment purpose. Trying to enforce PvP/duel to have any impacts in Mabinogi is a HORRIBLE idea as it'll only let people with best gear and least lag to have advantage in this.
Non-combat features:
1. Fashion... why? Mabinogi have one of the best customization out of all MMOs in term of character's clothes, and it help keep the game and community alive. Anyone who hate on fashion are getting upset over something petty and shouldn't be playing this game anyway. It also help the game in term of tea party.
2. Life skills (though they should remove the talent restriction for certain items).
3. Transformation Mastery- it is a good way for any role-players that want to get into game because it can let you transform into any animals, monsters, or NPCs and let you create your own story.
4. The free-for-all world, it basically allow you to explore anywhere you want to go.

PvP - Love it. Pretty much the only time where you can utilize rock-paper-scissors. Too bad most duels/EvG are very gear/stat dependent.

Actually, a lot of MMOs focus on you getting to max or near end game level to do end game stuff (I tried other mmos and I got to end level in matter of weeks).
If other mmo had free skills or at least a comfortable character progression like Mabi, it would be great. Even when leveling, I feel almost no grind with the rebirth system (unless you count training exp), but every week, my character grows stronger.
If I was to compare it, other MMOs is where you grow fast and enjoy end game content.
Where in Mabinogi, growth is virtually almost unlimited, takes a long time, but the journey is enjoyable. End game content is nill, which is sad for vets, but chara progression aside, it's like cultivating a strong and beautiful flower over many months and for vets, years.

Reminds me of Vindictus when on the West Server Ambition was raping everyone in lvl 52+ guoild pvp. What bullshit. You prevent people lower level from partaking because of inherent difference in gear yet the biggest gear differences lay in 52-80.

Compassion: maplestory, mabinogi, ffxiv
Combat system
as veteran: is amazing, unique, fun, let you combo many "jobs" into one lethal combo. But imo its reaching its limits
as a noob: confusing (without wiki), buged (ruberband, miss if archer, position lag as mage), tutorials are clunky, frustrating without a veteran.
ffxiv: raids and a complex style specially lvl 50+ end game dungeons (this is when the real fun starts)
mabinogi: unique (back when mabi started i thought this game was unlimitless; but new skills and "renewals" are usles) end game is BORING
maplestory: repetitive
Character progression
ffxiv: you can do any job and steal some skills to improve your fav job
mabinogi: limitless but this can get repetitive at time is not rewarding enough (rank 1 life skills are awfull)
maple: you hit lvl 200 and yep you are done
Guild support
ffxiv: i love it! guildhouses are amazing! so much to do.
mabinogi: its just an other chatbox nothing special. Its expensive for such an outdate feature
maple: im scared of guilds in maple... those were mafias
Story
ffxiv: its a final fantasy, enough said
mabinogi: i loved it g1,2,3 had fun with g7,8 after that it started to go down down down
maple: idk im not sure i even tried to read it
Content
ffxiv: Dungeons an raids are rewarding!! even with randoms its fun. They keep updating the damn game, even tho you hit cap lvl with cap gear there is so much to do!! New update with new skills, classes, lvls, places to explore
Mabinogi: They dont know what balance is, dungeons are long an give you none reward (peaca abyss for a stupid alchemy crystal) passes are hell to get, shadow missions are outdated, no new strategies to beat content. Giragish was a good idea but... 4 years to rank those crappy skills? in ruairi is hard to find a party
maple: i got bored with it. Hit monsters side to side to mob them and kill them ASAP, bosses needs some team work but not much
PVE systems
ffxiv: fun: fates are like dragon raids but spawn randomly and constantly!! Be a healer can be tough since your dmg is LOW, but you get contribution healing and rezing random ppl. Nothing is more rewarding than a bow from some1 you just saved
mabi: Ai its old! rly easy to bug, reskined wolf everywhere. Fun to use all your random skills on a poor monster
maple: ----
PVP systems
ffxiv: i hate it.
mabinogi: it used to be fun, trick your foe with a walking smash instade of defense. But all this new broken skill and that 0% not working rule killed it
maple: does it have one?
Cost
ffxiv: $15 monthly. Totally worth it: pets, houses, none real restrictions.
mabi: If you dont spend some money you dont have many usefull features. Specially pets (if you are starting; a battle pegasus is rly hard to get). Service cost 10,900 (overpriced for such an awfull service). Thx goddess i dont need it anymore for all my bags.
maple: well you cant achive enough dmg without spending some
Non-combat features
1. Fashion: its what kept me here in first place. Be able to wear a thong or a full dustin had the same results while murdering inocent wolves or getting fireballed by a dragon. This changed a lot and focused more on visual junk even tho they tried to improve defense and protection (why you do this if you are not willing to improve it even further to give us new monster mechanics)
2. Life skills: i spent more money, time and stress in this usless skills (all are rank 1). Time to time im able to help a friend with a new hermit staff or making the new weapons, but everything else is usless. There is no reason to have manuals of daggers if they are usless
3. Transformation Mastery: it gave me a month or two of fun. Hunting monsters was fun!! but frustrating the same time, passes are BAD. And this skill by itself is usless in combat (it was awesome to have armored bear pre def/prot buff)
4. The free-for-all world: "it basically allow you to explore anywhere you want to go" have u seen iria? is a wasteland. Why not a commerce feature?!
Those anyone here know what are pet res kit for? Some times in a dungeon i had a pet w8ing for my call next to statue of the goddess to save the day. Good days

Does it have good fashion? I thought it would be more, but this is a pleasant surprise. Been putting off downloading the game for quite some time now.

Clothes are related to your job. There are few that share jobs but they are not amazing in stats. End game clothes are relic (they added diff end game clothes to avoid be clone of each other)
Imo armor, weapon, clothes designs are 300% above mabinogi

I personally dont think it's anywhere as good as mabi. The clothes that exist are very detailed and well done but there's barely any variety compared to mabi. People generally all wear the same thing with tiny variations. It really needs Mabi's dyeing system too but overall it's still really good. Expansion is coming soon too so there's going to be a lot more new items/clothes/content.

In raw content FFXIV is great, but I honestly don't like the 3d photorealistic aesthetic. Also FFXIV is kinda boring before 50.
