[Mabinogi-KR] Send your ideas to DevCat - Summer Edition!

  A few months ago, we did a special thread in which we translated suggestions and sent it to devkitty's box. We would now like to bring back the same idea for summer.
  
  Here's how it works, for the next two weeks (up until July 6, 2015 at 6:00 pm EST), we encourage you to make a post on how you want to see Mabinogi changes. It can be from small things such as gacha tweaks, skill tweaks, to even big ideas such as new skillsets, continents, balance shifts, or even new clothing designs!
  
  How it works is this:
  
  Period 1 - This Thread will accept any suggestions posts up to a maximum of TWO per person.
  Period 2 - The KR Team will each pick an idea or post they like and then make a new thread. 20 ideas will be presented and voted on (a voter can vote for more than one idea)
  Period 3 - The top 10 voted on ideas will be translated and sent
  
  In this way, unlike last time, you the community, will have a final say in what gets sent in by majority votes. If one person likes all ideas, they may vote for all of them. If they like only 3 ideas, they may vote for only 3. Likewise, if a person dislikes all ideas but one, they can only vote for one.
  
  That way, players can honestly express their own likes and dislikes without the pressure of picking out the best one.
  
  
  Now before we start your suggestion, here are some rules:
  
  1. TWO suggestion posts per person. You are allowed to edit your suggestion as many times until this thread is closed on July 6, 2015 at 6:00 pm EST. You are, however, allowed to comment on this thread or other people's idea without limit.
  
  2. Each Suggestion or Idea must be well fleshed out. We do not accept, "Fix Archery", "Fix game balance" and leave it as an idea. If you want them to fix archery, fix game balance, etc. please describe it in detail how you want it fixed. The more detail the better.
  
  3. Please add your server name and IGN so we may best find your idea when the time closes.

  Fix Enchanting
  Enchanting has a number of problems.
  
  1 - Very few people rank it because the benefits from ranking it are small (doesn't actually help enchanting, strangely).
  
  2 - Stepping/bridging is additional complexity and failure chances (and getting the required materials before the scroll expires can be hard). Most newer enchants are rank-regardless because Devcat recognizes this problem, but most older enchants aren't and as a result are notably harder to get on.
  
  3 - The result of a failure is pretty bad, especially past the ranks where failure will always result in item destruction... causing less people to even try enchanting.
  
  
  So I recommend these changes to fix the above problems.
  
  

  • Make all enchants rank 9 and above require r9+ enchanting (like it is now for r6+, but just change it to 9). In addition make the enchant skill give +1% success rate per rank.
    ---
    Reason: This will make the skill actually useful in enchanting, give enchanters more reason to be needed, and encourage people to rank the skill even just a few ranks.
    
    
    
  • Increase the success rate improvement on magic powders so they're still relevant in light of the skill changes. Blessed/Elite/Elven/Ancient/Notorious could be +0/3/6/9/12% or something like that. Cap enchant success rate at 99%, not 90%.

    Reason: Brings it more in-line with other skills and causes the % changes to not be wasted on the lower ranks. Also makes high-rank enchants something people might actually attempt.
    
    
    
  • Change failure damage to damage current durability, not max durability. "Destruction" should just set the item to 0 dura. Enchanting should require the item to be at full dura to enchant on it.

    Reason: Enchanting will still add a cost and risk of point loss (repairs) due to failure, but won't be so catastrophic as to keep people away from it entirely.
    
    
    
  • Make all enchant scrolls rank-regardless (as mentioned in the problem section even Devcat recognizes this problem), and make the scrolls last 24 hours instead of 8.

    Reason: This is so people have more time to get hold of an enchanter that can do that scroll and lets them reasonably prepare things before the scrolls expire. (Yes, I know we have the expiration removal things, but those shouldn't be a normal usage scenario, something like that should not be a requirement for a skill in the first place.)

  Make it to where you can use small amounts of pon to choose the exact colour you want on your clothes. I think it would make people more creative with their colour pallets instead of the ever so popular black/white, blue/black, red/black, ect. (Doesn't have to replace the current ways to dye items)
  
  

  Revamp drop rewards in shadow/theater/raid missions and dungeons.

  
  
  I highly dislike how a lot of new content is locked behind a gacha wall (and while most of the time you can end up buying it for a reasonable amount of gold once it comes out again on the 3rd event gacha.) I think it would be more meaningful to have the ability to earn it through playing the game. At least add some more recent items in the drop list to make it more interesting than a stiff tail cap or alchemy crystals.

  • Reason: Most of these skills have been stuck at a specific rank for far too long (Campfire, First Aid, and Rest date back to around G4-8) or never received uncaps since their implementation (Evasion and Mana Shield), and are held back by a lot due to these caps, and slightly hold back player growth due to the stats that are locked away. As for the master title, a collection or contribution to the journal (even Wine Making which mostly follows the same principles as these book/quest skills has a master title).

  • Explanation: Melee Normal Attack, Smash, Counterattack, and all knockdown-causing Puppetry Skills all give invincibility frames to the target. This feature removed entirely.

  • Explanation: Allow Adventurer Talent and/or some high rank Exploration Mastery to access Treasure Dungeon instead of solely requiring to be in the Treasure Hunter talent, which is only accessible by paying real-life money.
    
  • Reason: What good is keeping this locked away? There's nothing of interest that offers a significant advantage so what's the point of the chain? That and along with its pay2access feature is why almost no one gives a damn about it. Furthermore adding a pay2access content in a free2play game goes against everything (let's not go into reforges).

  • Explanation: Delete the skill Crisis Escape while refunding the AP spent on it.
    
  • Reason: This skill is very overpowered by instantly resetting aggro, along with a relatively long duration and short cooldown, all while obsoleting out Play Dead completely and putting Shadow Cloak to shame. The latter two have significant, more arguably balanced drawbacks (Play Dead's aggro drop time is very long and is susceptible to attacks like windmill while also having a long get-up time which is aggroable; while Shadow Cloak has a short duration, long cooldown, and a weapon requirement) while Crisis Escape literally has none (Can't use in trans? Not too significant. Immobile? Also insignificant. Stamina cost? Hah.)

  • Explanation: Delete the skill Inspiration while refunding the AP spent on it.
    
  • Reason: In similar vein to Crisis Escape, this skill is very overpowered as it offers a huge amount of MP restoration once every three minutes with a relatively short usable time that makes it difficult to interrupt, all while possessing literally no drawback whatsoever, and also greatly nullifying one of Mage's drawbacks of having resource issues. Also very redundant, as numerous skills and equipment offer ways to reduce mp issues at a noticeable level that could reasonably remedy the resource issue drawback without rendering it obsolete, and these methods also all have relevant drawbacks.

  I agree with making elite passes useful but...
  
  I don't agree with some changes for the skills.
  
  1. Lullaby is fine the way it is, leave it.
  2. Maybe make rain cast be actually useful rather than just removing the AI, prod rate, and water cannon bonus.
  3. 3 minutes is too long and would render Crisis Escape useless, so the most I'd make it would be 60 seconds the most you get for r1 so you can use it occasionally but not always so it leave you vulnerable for maybe like... 15 seconds?
  4. Shadow bind, eh? Hmm... Well... Doesn't it only lock up to 6 targets at a time? Which mean it's useless against more than 6 mobs, especially if they have aggressive aggro.

  AN increased Watercannon boost(Along side a tone-down on the Reforge) and a increased production rate would be nice.
  The AI thing needs to be removed though, it's the only broken part of the skill.

  Why should a skill that renders monster aggro useless have a 60~35 second cooldown? thats ludicrous.

  Most of them time, we only get 6 monsters in most shadow missions, and as far as aggressive monsters, I can only think of ghasts.

  Rain casting having AI being removed I can agree with... Why does rain cast remove the aggro? Does raining and the thunder cause the mobs to be distracted enough? Lol!
  
  I agree Crisis Escape should be merged, yes, BUT not that bad. I'd just make it so r1 have 60 seconds instead of 35, so you can stay in the state where mobs won't aggro you for 20 seconds then you can handle them for rest of 40 seconds before using it again. 3 minutes is just ridiculous and will only cause players to not use that skill anymore.
  
  Shadow Bind... I'd suggest nerfing or changing the master title, at least, so you can't just infinitely lock the targets... But I do have heard of some cases where it can get glitches where the bind cause to be shorter, and doesn't always work.
  
  Just saw the pet AoE thingy... I do agree with 1 minute cooldown but... I'd expect some players to get NX compensated for that nerf though.

  I support this, and it would make elves have some significant advantages in archery compared to humans. I'd make it so final shot does higher multiplier for all archery skills and remove the load time.

  These are both good. I won't go into anything specific right now but the biggest issues with Mabinogi right now stem from a combination of content being either inaccessible or unrewarding relative to alternative options.
  
  Lullaby
  
  The base effect and duration are very strong but that alone isn't enough to warrant a skill nerf. The low opportunity cost is the real culprit here (especially when tied with Singing). Increasing the cooldown boosts up Encore and coupled with the reduced sleep chance gives some incentive to continue your performance beyond the initial activation (i.e. Surrounded by 10 mobs. Activate skill, 2 seconds in 5 fall asleep. Wait another two seconds and you get another shot to put the remaining mobs to sleep).
  
  Reduce sleep chance to 65%.
  Raise cooldown to 30 seconds.
  
  Shadow Bind
  
  Shadow Bind has a decent opportunity cost (requiring a shuriken + skill animation + title/reforge slot) and the duration isn't all that long. Increasing the duration past the cooldown doesn't really help since they don't stack; mobs will unfreeze and attack once the initial duration wears off. The biggest argument against nerfing Shadow Bind is that of usage. The skill isn't widely used in NA Mabinogi, so there's not a lot of pressure behind nerfing it compared to Final Hit, etc.
  
  Cooldown should be no higher than 30 seconds if this is touched at all.
  
  Crisis Escape
  
  A 3~5 minute cooldown is pretty harsh but i'm not entirely opposed. How about changing the skill so that instead of dropping agro completely, it simply forces mobs into alert status. Mobs could still aggro the player/the skill would simply halt any major pursuers and return battlefield momentum to the player.

  With Ken's permission, I am going to post this. I will only post one since this idea of mine is VERY HUGE and can take some times for DevCat to implement. But here's the idea of mine... Necromancer Content, and maybe they can make it tie in into Divine Knight storyline because I did think about it for a bit and it might make sense too. If not, they can make this as a mini-storyline for now and when they decided to do Chapter 7, maybe they can make this mini-storyline tie into that.
