Fuck man, people aren't even judging the book by it's cover here, they just saw the spine and are screaming bloody murder already! Calm your tits folks, if the game doesn't cater to your tastes judging by 3 minutes of teasing footage that's fine, the game is not for you. Just wait a little longer until more info is released before calling it shit, ffs!
Apparently people wanted Fantasy Life all over again, but wouldn't that have killed the entire purpose of the first game existence?
People really need to wait so we can see game play OUTSIDE the dungeons, rather than cry and moan like babies now.

mabi 2 drones in full damage control mode and its not even alpha lel
Face it, DevCAT's out of ideas so they're trying to churn out gritty "action" crap that appeals to edgy western gamers.

I'd actually be perfectly fine if they just revamped the graphics and engine on Mabi 1.
Thing is devcat doesn't seem to realize people like mabi because its incredibly laid back and casual. You can do anything with no class restrictions.
Not this dungeon crawling edgy crap.

This looked a lot more like Mabinogi 2 than Mabinogi 2 did:

Another game I'm looking forward too lol.

Now I can understand why some people would be disappointed, but we still really haven't seen any of the game other than some 3 min clips of combat.
So we really can't pass judgement until we hear more.
Now what I'm really wondering is the Koreans reactions to this whole thing.

Because this is Nexon that we're talking about!

This is what I expected when I watched the mabi 2 trailier, not a downgraded vindi

Except it's not going to be anything resembling Mabinogi, the combat system makes it clear enough. They seem to be emphasizing beat-em-up or hacknslash combat much more than the life skills/crafting/social aspects. It's definitely going for the gritty brown&bloom look designed to attract the MATURE GAMES FOR MATURE GAMERS crowd, which I wholeheartedly reject.
It may not be Vindictus 2 in pure content, but it looks like Vindictus 2 in focus and feel.
I agree with this, I don't want combat pushed on me, the thing I like about mabi is that I don't have to focus on combat.
I'm a merchant, that's what I do, I want a fantasy life game where it's open world and you can do what you want, not a "hey let's go kill shit over and over again!" game

NCsoft hmm...
http://www.mmoculture.com/2012/11/gstar-2012-project-nt-debut-trailer-revealed/
as for the Project NT game, its got a classless system with players equipping skills dropped by monsters.
A story design which is still strong in Korea, Project NT will feature 2 opposing factions (Human and Akasha), each created by 2 gods on pretty bad terms. The 2 races, however, will mend their differences as the storyline progresses. The game will also allow players to create their own maps, villages, personal space, economy and even fulfill political ambitions!
though this could be put in another topic.

They showed the combat part of the game first to attract people. Sure people who play mabi 1 love it for life skills and other things than combat, but new audiences that might not be in that would be turned away of a vid of some character doing life skills for 3 minutes. We'll probably get more vids of other things you can do on down the road, after they've hooked people that just want to fight. As much as I like just chilling on Mabi 1, I still LOVE to go into combat. If they had shown a vid of a few life skills instead of combat, I'd be turned away fast...much can be said for people who have never played mabi 1

I'm not sure why people are expecting a mabinogi 2 replacement when it's been said that it won't be a replacement but another member of the family. The general idea is that if you like the gameplay style of Mabinogi then you can
keep playing Mabinogi. Mabinogi 2 is meant to offer something different.
Anyway! Some notes:
- This game was designed to be action oriented. If you don't like that then as said before, you can keep playing Mabi. No one is forcing you to play Mabi II.
- Not as hardcore as Heroes/Vindictus.
- Gameplay is "interactive", seems to be highly situation/cue based ("reaction" commands are mentioned)
- You play with the arrow keys and ZXC.
- There will be instances. It's not clear if instances are the entire game.
- There is customisation, it's not clear how much.
- Uses Silvervine Engine, made from scratch by Devcat for Mabinogi II.
- Players are warriors of/for Morrighan (steparu says oriana, he read wrong).
I'll update with more later.

Pretty much this.
I just want an open-world Vindictus.

All I care about for the moment... is it character locked? Looks like it from the limited videos and artwork shown.
I will not even go near this game if it is.
All the other details can wait until we know more, but right now that's all I care about.
hard to say, if you look at mabinogi 1 promotional vids, anyone that doesnt know the game could say: another class-locked game. I still love the art quality, is really well made, but i miss the chibi touch and anime-ish graphics on it, as the last vid shows on another game. All we have for now is the art work and just a part of the physics, we dont know what nexon is planing any ways, not like they need to make another mabi1-like game on the same game series, they can perfectly make an improved mabi giving it a new name, and relating the mainstream story to another ancient culture. Im sure they wanna catch gamers that arent happy with mabi1 and vindictus game style and/or graphics, not to replace mabi1 (yet).
