Most mobs aren't going to conveniently bunch themselves up for you to splash them with Hail without outside intervention.

Errr...

Please explain what you're saying. Are you saying that a reforged ego wand is better? Can you break it down as simply as possible, if you have the time.

Also, how do you ego a R5 wand? O_O

In situations where mobs are bunched up naturally, Hail Storm is worth utilizing. You can't say the same for Fireball and Thunder which are garbage tier spells outside of very specific situations like Rafting and Falias (actually puppetry is better in falias than Thunder, now).

Ice Spear is still the most useful spell but Hail Storm is more rewarding when facing content which is actually challenging (NPC/Lord/etc), though Ice Spear does hilarious things in the ecology and mines.

Mages might be able to throw out a fireball before rooms are cleared post Zero but they will be outclassed by effective hybrids, full-stop. Instant cast Fireball is best followed with other, more efficient talents...not magic.

I'm merely comparing the strongest known Fire Wand stats to that of the Chaincast Savage Fire Wand. As i'm confident that nobody knows how magic is calculated post Zero, I won't bother declaring which weapon is more effective.

That said, if the Korean populace has started using Generation 1 weapons we best follow suit.

Does that mean that a reforged Ego Fire Wand is the best Firebolt chaincaster of all?
Because I thought Max Damage on wands only applied partially, and not completely.

Would this also work the same way for Ice Wands and Ice Spear?

I'm still trying to ponder what reforge would be better on the wand.

I meant to ask if regular Ice Wand egos get their damage added to the base damage of Ice Spear.
As in turning Ice Spear's base damage from 160~240 into 196~315.

Same could be asked for the other Advanced Magic, I guess.

That's part of the reason why I switched my ego to an Ego Wand. You seem rather pessimistic about magic post Zero despite the fact at how well the mage was soloing martial arts.

I think this is because we're getting the formula wrong or some hidden factors have not been exposed to us yet.
Rough calculations don't show much of an increase to magic with the formulas we have at the moment.

At the same time though there's plenty of magic videos out there that show that Magic has received a SIGNIFICANT BOOST! If anything, mages can toss out 8 second fireballs and go boom boom everywhere and rain the unholy power of 70k crit blazes :evil:

Also if Firebolt Damage increases from 2k crits - 7k crits like I've been seeing on KR Videos, then that seems pretty significant. Heck Herro says he's seen Koreans do 16k crit firebolts.

I've seen Firebolt hit upwards of 25k.

My issue is with preparing for this content. As of right now, it seems like it doesn't matter what magic weapon you choose because they all deal about the same amount of damage. If that's the case, you might as well just say fuck it and use merlin knuckles. Equipment be damned.

I just found a KR wiki if anyone wants to comb through it.

Fireball will be able to do 30-35k crits every 8-10 seconds which isn't bad, it just has terrible CC.
Thunder would be really good if the crits for the 5 bolts were only calculated once.

Not sure that qualifies as garbage tier. Sure they are now, but I doubt they'll suck as bad post-Zero.

Also I dunno about Caravan (honestly never attempted it) but I don't think Scathach mobs are really bunched enough for Hailstorm to be viable (also >scathach being challenging) and if you're actually fighting in Hostage, then you probably won't be able to get off a hailstorm except for Snapcast. Actually Ice Spear is better in Hostage even if it doesn't do as much because it tends to be a clusterfuck, and Ice Spear crowd control can allow the party a little breather.

Also Hailstorm indubitably needs Crisis for NPC. Even naturally bunched enemies unbunch too fast to get a non-snapcasted Hailstorm off.

Ice Spear doesn't need anything except the mage knowing when and when not to Ice Spear (i.e, when everyone's used their AOEs and could appreciate a 3 second breather for CDs to reset and such), and nobody's going to complain about Ice Spear hitting the entire mob for 9-11k.
