Fireball will be able to do 30-35k crits every 8-10 seconds which isn't bad, it just has terrible CC.
Thunder would be really good if the crits for the 5 bolts were only calculated once.
Not sure that qualifies as garbage tier. Sure they are now, but I doubt they'll suck as bad post-Zero.
Also I dunno about Caravan (honestly never attempted it) but I don't think Scathach mobs are really bunched enough for Hailstorm to be viable (also >scathach being challenging) and if you're actually fighting in Hostage, then you probably won't be able to get off a hailstorm except for Snapcast. Actually Ice Spear is better in Hostage even if it doesn't do as much because it tends to be a clusterfuck, and Ice Spear crowd control can allow the party a little breather.
Also Hailstorm indubitably needs Crisis for NPC. Even naturally bunched enemies unbunch too fast to get a non-snapcasted Hailstorm off.
Ice Spear doesn't need anything except the mage knowing when and when not to Ice Spear (i.e, when everyone's used their AOEs and could appreciate a 3 second breather for CDs to reset and such), and nobody's going to complain about Ice Spear hitting the entire mob for 9-11k.
I hate it whenever mages use ice spear, especially in the tara castle shadow missions, like SS. The resulting splash usually hits everything, and everyone is just sitting in the room waiting for the ice spear freeze to wear off...and splash again...and wear off.
All the content we have is becoming more soloable with each new update, I don't see a lot of encouraging of team play anymore because it's less annoying to do it yourself than getting a party together. I guess I'm just being one of those players that misses the old days of dying in ciar basic and needing a party for anything past int wasn't unusual. Don't mind my ranting.
Correction, IS *used* to suck if you couldn't one shot because you could only get one or 2 charges off if your IS didn't OHKO. Now your endgame IS one or twoshots or one shots everything with noncrits and oneshots everything in Elite, and even against Lord/MA, you still do more than enough DPS to make IS spam worth it to the party.
Hailstorm, no matter how much damage it does, requires outside intervention. So instead of doing other stuff, the party is helping you set up hailstorm. So it's not any *better* for party play at the very least.
Also why the hell are you worried about mana cost? Spend more time on your homestead/in Shylien and have mediation up at all times. And events vomit extra potions at you anyway. I know mages who still have leftover potions from last year's fishing event. And pure mages don't give a shit about poisoning, and potion lore makes it almost a non-issue anyway.
Right, because Crisis + Act 7 or Windmill or Shooting Rush don't disrupt party play. I sure like missing full charge focused fists because someone pops a Crisis. The only problem with Ice Spear was that it didn't do enough, now it will.
I've been thinking about differents upgrades on Savage Wands today and I felt like sharing.
Does casting speed affects blaze charge time? if so
Blaze coefficient is only 0.03 so you could exchange the magic attack upgrades to casting speed (it would make IS casting faster too = better combos)

It seems that Fire Wand egos are going to be way better for damage wise. BUT. If you are a person like me that dislike Wand egos [UB]because how fast they eat dura[/UB] you could just do:

I'm just gonna answer the mana cost part, all other thing you said is just a load of BS and a whole lot of speculation. Ice spear doesn't disrupt party play ? Said no one ever. Oh wait, you did.
Mana cost is important because ain't nobody have time to sit in home stead everyday picking herb or making pot. Maybe a few people will enjoy that I guess. Ice spear is by far, consume the most amount of mp overtime due to it fast load time (even more mp intensive after revamp). I rather use other spell if it mean achieving the same if not better damage output for less mana usage.[/QUOTE]

Also from personal experience. Level 20 Casting Reforge + Firebolt Spam = you are going to be covered with glitchy firebolts all around you all the fudging time zzzz. I mean sure you'll have speed firebolts, but at the cost of looking like you are on fire.

As a person that suffers from Trypophobia I am NOT going to do that. Everytime someone glitche with that around me I try to turn the camera around.
Of course you could always mod to remove the firebolt image.Well doing any kind of speed upgrade when you are doing firebolt spam is going to increase the chance of it happening. So if you plan on doing firebolt spam, stay away from the speed casting.
