Ninja skills are a bit underwhelming?

  As long as you never want to use normal attacks, anyway. That's the big difference between shurikens and melee weaps. Shuriken normal attack sucks a lot of ass. Also bear in mind you can't use FH with one.

  I can't remember the last time I used a normal melee attack other than to finish off an enemy, or occasionally to stop them from loading a skill, and I believe you can use FH, but it works like a 2h weapon.

  Low combination of str/will. Similar things can happen with gunner.

  STR gives more to melee damage than it does to Shuriken damage, and my Will is only like 230 or something, so the STR alone calculation for melee ends up higher than STR+Will for Shuriken because it only uses ~half your STR comparatively.
  
  (And like IW said, same for guns. People assume they're OP because they use STR+Will, but they only use half+half compared to raw damage).

  I'm with you there buddy. I've been practicing my Gunner/Ninja setup. So far it handles like a dream. It's the secondary Gunner's been needing.

  I believe people only think it's underwhelming because puppet damage is so unbalanced. Not the best skill set, but imo better than f2p range, gunner, and alchemy. Also, the skills actually give good stats. You can start on these skills at level 1 total and still do decent damage unlike puppet and gunner.
  
  I don't get why people are complaining about Shuriken Charge requiring a target to use and not being able to change targets. The same two things could be said about any range skill (Magnum, crash shot, etc) and I've never heard such complaints being targeted toward range. You guys are either not using TAB target (or whatever u have it hotkeyed to) or have never used a bow before.

  I like the skill set. Tho it shouldnt be ninja... it should be knife thrower; this skills are not sneaky or dexterious, they are pure brute force.
  
  You can wm and instantly use shuriken charge, counter + shadow cloak to avoid aggro (does anyone realize u dont have to attack?) kunai bomb and fool around with normal attack.

  The issue is that the vast majority of players don't touch the "target a guy" hotkey, they load a skill and hit whoever they feel like, even in archery you load the skill first and then begin aiming.
  I actually had to go and bind a hotkey for this crap just to pre-target things so I can aim at them with shuriken charge.
  It goes against everything I've learned to do since flipping closed beta, it is not a fun mechanic to deal with.

  You need a target to load Shuriken Charge. You do not need a target to load Magnum Shot. Stand in dunby and press both hotkeys when you have the right weapons equipped, outside of combat mode. One will load, the other will not. :P
  
  The thing about Shuriken Charge needing a target being an issue is that not everybody uses the move/select targeting system. I, myself, am used to snap-targeting everything (and have done so for years in a number of combat styles), but chances are Shuriken Charge's range will be lower than your normal attack range at any given time, so you can't click or snap-target something to start loading the skill, as you'll attack the enemy instead, causing them to run towards you in most cases, giving you much less time to pull the skill off.
  
  EDIT: Like the poster above, I had to actually go create that hotkey in order to target something without attacking it in order to use Shuriken Charge successfully.
