I swear, every time people spout doom and gloom about a skillset sucking I immediately recall when we first learned of puppetry. I liked what I saw from it (was actually sold by a solo run of Peaca) and I was completely baffled by the amount of people who said "shit's going to suck." Flash forward to a few months after its release and everyone's clamoring for it. Never mind the high level of control it offers and the interesting tactics that involve positioning both on your part and the two puppets you juggle--the only thing that changed people's minds was the damage. That was then, though. It seems like
these days, in order for people to say that a skillset is good or useful, it must do one of the following:
-Achieve lance/crash shot dps at the minimum
-Combo well with Blaze
-Render all current combos with Blaze obsolete
Otherwise, it'll just get a resounding 'meh' that can be heard all the way in KR.

I'm more comfortable with ctrl targeting than tabbing, because tabbing could make me select the wrong enemy and that'd screw me over.
Adding on to what Rydian said, when I click on a weaker mob, I attack it and it immediately dies, and obviously I can't use this skill on a dead target.
Also I'd like to show it off in town.

You need a target to load Shuriken Charge. You do not need a target to load Magnum Shot. Stand in dunby and press both hotkeys when you have the right weapons equipped, outside of combat mode. One will load, the other will not. :P
The thing about Shuriken Charge needing a target being an issue is that not everybody uses the move/select targeting system. I, myself, am used to snap-targeting everything (and have done so for years in a number of combat styles), but chances are Shuriken Charge's range will be lower than your normal attack range at any given time, so you can't click or snap-target something to start loading the skill, as you'll attack the enemy instead, causing them to run towards you in most cases, giving you much less time to pull the skill off.
EDIT: Like the poster above, I had to actually go create that hotkey in order to target something without attacking it in order to use Shuriken Charge successfully.
Likewise. This skill's targeting seems to have been made by someone who totally forgot about CTRL+click targeting.

although most aren't used to the whole tab targeting thing, I'm fine with it. Its enabled automatically on mabi installation if I recall and its very helpful sometimes. Besides, its not like I use shuriken charge as an opener that often anyway as standing in front of an enemy charging it for 6 seconds or so is long enough for them to aggro you and attack you so I just mix it into my combos

The only problem I'm having with the skillset is normal attack is too far away for charging shuriken to be able to be thrown. Though my skill ranks are very low. I'd hope that a higher level charging shuriken fixes this for me.
Other than that, this skillset is everything I've ever wanted in this game. Can't wait until I get good enough gear/skill ranks/stats to main it

Rank 1 at both gives 13 meters, so yes it'll fix with higher ranks.

Rofl the complaints here are hilarious..
I had comments but.. meh, just learn the skillset better.
Shadow bind is trumped by lullaby and smokescreen is something that just shouldn't exist the way it is now.
Everything else stated here that's "bad" is either something wrong or not worth complaining about. :P

Lullaby and Shadow bind is great.
But i love how cloaking just drops aggro.

This is what I dislike about the state of the community and the game in general. No one cares about support or fun. Everyone is too busy having a pissing contest to see who can have the biggest e-peen in terms of damage. Nevermind the act of subtlry and luring fomors into your devlish ninja traps. If it can't get Climatic Crash, Crash Shot or Blaze like damage, then to hell with it.
You know speaking of Shadow Cloak...Emergency Escape is also a great ninja skill despite the fact that it's part of Treasure Hunter's skill set. All it's lacking is for us to turn into a log.

I'd rather have Emergency Escape kicked out the door. It's stupid, horribly unbalanced, and illogical.
Speaking of turning into a log, I'd like to have that false body technique Hagi used against Shinobi in the ninja storyline, except of turning into a log I'd like to turn into Ferghus and then laugh once he gets hit.

Smokescreen is definitely very underwhelming, even though it is single target, Spinning Uppercut is better for lowering Defense which also drop protection (I'm not putting Bone Dragon into this equation). If it dropped aggro, it would be a bit more useful. Explosive Kunai feels like a very situational skill, with very few situations it could be (or I just lag enough to decrease its usefulness). Shuriken Charge is kinda okay, aside from that fact you need to be targeting beforehand (Had some fun doing the tutorial for it since I kept regular attacking while I target the way I usually do). Aside from Cooldown, Sakura Abyss is pretty decent, though nothing amazing. Kunai Storm, Shadow Bind and Shadow Cloak are good as they are.
Tis just my opinion though.

Played around with it some more. Charging Shuriken isn't really as bad once you get used to it. Smokescreen still is just...bad. I'm starting to like kunai storm but it still feels underwhelming in the damage department. Explosive Shuriken gets really useful after r5. Sakura Abyss...well only r6 atm so I still can't say how much I like or dislike it. Shadow Cloak is an annoying skill to rank but man it has its uses! Oh and shadow bind does have awesome party value since it doesnt have that "only works once per target" thing that lullaby has.

Seems like a lot of the faults of the skillset is covered over by reforges...
So spend hours and hours to grind up to r1 so that you can spend hundreds of dollars on the company that let you waste your time just so that your skills can function on par with other skillsets. Great.
